Christology, Hermeneutics, and Hebrews
A book was just released, to which Dr. Michael Allen contributed a chapter.
The book is: Christology, Hermeneutics, and Hebrews: Profiles from the History of Interpretation
Edited by Jon Laansma and Dan Treier; Library of New Testament Studies; London: T & T Clark, 2012.
The chapter is: “The Perfect Priest: Calvin on the Christ of Hebrews”
Dr. Allen’s chapter surveys the impact Hebrews had on Calvin’s theology, focusing on his views of history, the covenants, as well as his critical adoption of classical language about God and Christ. He suggests, in conclusion, that if Martin Luther was the theologian of the Apostle Paul, then John Calvin was the theologian of the Epistle to the Hebrews. The book can be found on Amazon.
